30th Anniversary Peak Ascent
Overview
A day with unique views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and the Fitz Roy massif. You'll experience climbing a Via Ferrata, with a physical challenge of about 6 hours of ascent guided by licensed professionals, up to the summit for a different look at Fitz Roy, with striking views of the Cagliero Glacier and the Lagunas Gemelas.

Itinerary
Morning at Puesto Cagliero
The day starts early with a warm fire and a nourishing breakfast at the refuge.
Approach via Laguna del Diablo
The trek begins with the guide through the Laguna del Diablo valley up to the via ferrata. First stop to hydrate and put on safety equipment.
Via Ferrata and Lagunas Gemelas
After the ferrata, with nearly 300 m of elevation gained, we reach the Lagunas Gemelas valley with a view of the Neumeyer Glacier. Stop for a packed meal.
Summit and Return
After the ascent and taking in the summit views, we head back to Refugio Cagliero, where hot drinks and a hearty dinner await.

Personal Gear List
Patagonian weather is changeable, with strong winds and frequent temperature swings. Having the right gear will let you enjoy the experience without the weather becoming an obstacle.
The following gear is mandatory. If the lead guide considers that its absence compromises the group's safety, the activity may be cancelled.
Luggage
- Trekking backpack (approx. 30 L)
- Waterproof or dry bags to protect gear
Clothing
- Thermal base layers
- Suitable trousers (no jeans)
- Waterproof jacket and trousers (Gore-Tex or similar)
- Insulated jacket (down or synthetic)
- Mid-layer
- Gloves, beanie and buff
- Spare technical socks (min. 2 pairs)
Footwear
- Broken-in trekking boots (not new)
- Crocs-type shoes or similar for river crossings and rest
Personal Items
- Trekking poles (2 per person)
- Water bottle (1 L)
- Headlamp
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
